The Macallan Time : Space Sherry Cask
The Macallan has partnered with sherry icon Valdespino to create Time : Space Sherry Cask, an ultra-premium single malt matured for 20 years in sherry casks seasoned before being married in casks seasoned with Valdespino sherry.
The release marks the first time The Macallan has used casks seasoned with its own Valdespino sherry to influence a whisky, and follows Edrington’s acquisition of a 50 per cent stake in Grupo Estévez, Valdespino’s owner, in March 2023.
Sherry Cask is the third chapter in the Time : Space series, and follows the 200th Anniversary releases of Time : Space and Time : Space Mastery in 2025.
Kirsteen Campbell, Master Whisky Maker at The Macallan, said Sherry Cask marks a key milestone in the brand’s management of its sherry-seasoning process.
“Shaped by two distinct interactions with sherry seasoned oak, the whisky began its journey on The Macallan Estate before being married in a selection of the first 200 casks from the Valdespino bodega in Jerez de la Frontera,” she said.
“This is a demonstration of The Macallan’s Mastery Beyond Reason, uniting generations of Valdespino’s sherry making expertise with our Whisky Mastery Team as we shape our next chapter.”
Bottled at 44.8% ABV, the whisky is presented in the collection’s signature circular vessel, designed to symbolise the continuity of past, present and future. The presentation box features a circular interior inspired by the palomino grapes grown in Valdespino’s Jerez vineyards, while its golden colouring evokes the Andalusian sun
Jaume Ferras, Creative Director at The Macallan, said: “TIME : SPACE Sherry Cask is a reflection of our enduring commitment to mastery, craftsmanship and the remarkable influence of our sherry casks. From our vineyards of Jerez de la Frontera to The Macallan Estate in Speyside, every element of this expression speaks to our Mastery Beyond Reason philosophy - bringing together nature, time and generations of expertise. It honours the foundations that have shaped The Macallan for over two centuries while looking forward to the possibilities that lie ahead.”
The Macallan Time : Space Sherry Cask is available in extremely limited quantities globally, with a small allocation making it to Australia.
