The world’s 10 most valuable whiskies come from six different countries
In a true showcase of whisky diversity, Jack Daniel’s, Johnnie Walker and Crown Royal ranked among the top 10 most valuable spirits brands in 2026, flying the flag for the US, Scotland and Canada respectively. Whisky’s top six also added in Japan and India, with Ireland rounding out the top 10. That’s six separate countries represented in the top 10 most valuable whisky brands of 2026.

Jack Daniel’s retained its position as the world’s most valuable whisky brand in Brand Finance’s evaluation of the most valuable spirits brands of 2026, with a value of approximately AUD $5.76 billion.
Johnnie Walker and Crown Royal, both owned by Diageo, were valued close together at AUD $3.93 billion and AUD $3.85 billion respectively, ahead of The Macallan, the only single malt Scotch brand in the top 10, and Suntory Whisky.
Indian whisky brands Royal Stag and McDowell’s ranked sixth and ninth, Scotch blended malts Ballantine’s and Chivas Regal ranked seventh and eighth, and Irish whiskey Jameson ranked 10th.
Scotch whisky brands lose value
The ranking highlights mounting pressures on Scotch whisky brands, with Chivas Regal declining 32 per cent in value and Johnnie Walker falling 10 per cent.
Glenfiddich was a notable exception, with its brand value rising 13 per cent to USD $493 million, approximately AUD $701 million – just over half the brand value of 10th place Jameson.
The results come amid a challenging export environment for Scotch whisky, with US tariffs and increased pressure from other spirits categories compounding the effects of softer consumer demand and higher operating costs.
Brand Finance’s Global Sector Head for Alcoholic Drinks, Henry Farr, flagged the growth of tequila. “The leading tequila brands have continued to build pricing power and loyalty, with Don Julio and Patrón now outranking almost every Scotch brand by value,” he said.
Farr also pointed to English whisky’s new protected status as evidence of the growing importance of provenance, craft and regional authenticity, even as the highest-value brands remain led by established global names.
Outside of Scotch, Crown Royal’s brand value increased 12 per cent to US$2.7 billion, making it the ninth most valuable spirits brand overall. Crown Royal was also recognised as the world’s strongest spirits brand overall, achieving a Brand Strength Index score of 96 out of 100 and an AAA+ rating.
The only other whiskies to make the top 10 Strongest Spirit Brands list were McDowell’s and Royal Stag, which are owned by Indian subsidiaries of Diageo and Pernod Ricard respectively.
