The inaugural Pontville Open Day will include a broad range of experiences not typically available to the public, including free hourly tours, live coopering demonstrations, whisky tastings, and an interactive blending experience with the distillery team.

Founder Bill Lark will also be in-conversation at 11am, sharing the journey that reignited Tasmania’s whisky industry more than 30 years ago.

Beyond whisky, the family-friendly day will feature a petting zoo and live music from Tasmanian artists Hugo Bladel and Charlotte Lucretia, and an American-style barbeque food offering from Chef Benny of Lark’s flagship Hobart bar Gotham at The Still.

Bill Lark said: “We’ve always believed that whisky is a wonderful way to connect people with Tasmania. Our Pontville Open Day is a special opportunity for visitors to get a taste of what makes this place so special and experience that connection firsthand.”

Lark’s Pontville Distillery is located 30 minutes north of Hobart and is set within an original 1800s estate, which has been restored into a fully operational whisky village, complete with bond stores and a working cooperage.

The distillery is open daily for tastings and tours, with the Open Day offering new insights and opportunities for visitors.

Head of Hospitality Dan Knight said: “Pontville is so much more than a place where we make whisky. It’s a working whisky village with a remarkable history, and we’re really thrilled to invite people to visit, explore, and spend some time getting to know that story.”
